In 1925, in a small German village Herzogenaurach, Adolf “Adi" Dassler designed his first pair of athletic shoes and started the family business. In 1949 it split in two: his brother’s company was called Puma, while Adi’s became Adidas, an abbreviation of his name. At that time Adolf created the three stripes that now are printed on the company's shoes and clothes. These days Adidas manufactures athletic shoes, apparel, and sporting goods for men, women, and kids to participate in different sports activities: football, basketball, hockey, along with golf apparel, and Rockport walking shoes. Adidas is one of the oldest companies in the worldwide sporting goods industry.
What began as a German family business is now a corporation, combined with the French global concern Salomon:
The Adidas group for a long time consisted of Reebok, TaylorMade, and Runtastic. But in August 2021 Reebok was sold to Authentic Brands Group. Adidas also owns a share of the German football club Bayern Munich. The slogan of Adidas sounds “Impossible Is Nothing”. The company sees the endless possibilities of sport and desires to shape a better future together. Sport plays an increasingly important role in more and more people’s lives. And this is also the merit of Adidas.
Adidas has more than 26 million Instagram followers around the world. On its page, the manufacturer mainly publishes photos and videos of the products and the company’s events. In addition to this, Adidas has many exciting collaborations. There are pictures of famous athletes who inspire and push all people forward with action. Adidas is also against discrimination and racism in all forms and highlights its position on Instagram’s page.
